Wedding Speeches

Wedding speeches are a highlight event at a wedding reception.

Each wedding speech is different. Some are short and sweet while others can be funny but lengthy stories of your lives.

But we’ve found that all wedding speeches have a shared aspect: they came from the heart.

Don’t be afraid to express your feelings during your wedding speech. Open up your heart to all the family and friends that you are sharing your wedding with.

Talk about how you first met and what your first impressions were of each other. Tell a story about the first date and meeting their family for the first time. Recall on memories of holiday trips and weekend outings. Describe your feelings and plans on your future together. And last of all, tell them you love them.

When making your wedding speech, before you go into the actual speech, make sure to acknowledge immediate family and thank them for coming and helping with wedding preparations. Then thank any guests that traveled from interstate or overseas to attend.

When planning the speeches, make sure you get them all written down and review them. By looking over all the speeches, you can see if there are any overlaps in stories and edit anything you’d rather not be said in front of all the guests.

Rehearse the speech too. Trim any long parts, try to keep it simple and concise but also meaningful and engaging. 5 minutes tends to be the average speech time.

If you are having problems with your speech, try to reiterate your wedding vows to give an underlying tone and theme, and work on it from there.

As long as its heartfelt and honest and you open yourself up to everyone, your speech will be fantastic.
